Director of Experiential Education

Under the leadership of President Pamela T. Reid, Saint Joseph College, a comprehensive institution ranked among the best in the Northeast, seeks Director of Experiential Education for its School of Pharmacy.

Saint Joseph College includes an undergraduate college devoted to providing young women from diverse backgrounds with excellent educational experiences and opportunities for leadership and service to the community. In addition, the College also offers coeducational graduate and adult programs and an education steeped in the traditions of Catholic intellectual and social values. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, the College is situated on a beautiful suburban campus while providing easy access to the Capital city of Hartford with its culture, government, and sports venues.  New York City and Boston are also within easy reach of the College by car or train.

The primary responsibilities for this position include development and coordination of pharmacy practice experiences for students, providing educational support for preceptors, and ensuring experiential programs meet or exceed accreditation standards. He/she will be responsible for establishing collaborative relationships with pharmacy organizations, health institutions, and will coordinate community and professional outreach activities. The Director of Experiential Education reports directly to the Dean. The new school will use a 3-calendar year block curriculum. The first class is anticipated in fall 2011.

The successful candidate must have earned the Pharm.D. or Bachelor’s degree or a related Doctoral/ M. Ed. Degree in pharmacy. Applicant will be eligible for Pharmacist Licensure in the State of Connecticut.  A minimum of 3 years experience as a member in a college or school of pharmacy or preceptor is preferred. Other desired qualities include: strong communication skills, interpersonal and team building skills, the ability to work with a diverse group of students, and the ability to effectively represent the school to external and internal constituents.
