Online Biochemistry, M.S.
This 30-credit degree program offers flexibility and convenience for working professionals. The program is ideally suited to members of the armed services whose positions deny them the ability to attend classes at a regional college or university on a schedule that meets their terms and locations of service.
COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM
The Master of Science in Biochemistry is an integrated program, combining coursework in the fields of biology and chemistry. The comprehensive courses range from advanced organic to conceptual development in Chemistry, enabling you to increase depth and scope of your knowledge in this field. Therefore, graduates will have employment opportunities in biology and chemistry as well as hobs requiring an integrated program. Graduates will also be prepared to enter professional training in medicine, veterinary, pharmacy, and allied health schools. You design the program with the help of a faculty member, allowing you to tailor your studies to meet specific educational goals.
PREREQUISITE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The admissions requirement for this program requires a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 and a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related field. Prerequisites for admission include undergraduate courses (graded with a C or better) in the following:
- 4 semesters in Chemistry with labs (at least 2 semesters of organic chemistry)
- 2 semesters of Calculus
- 2 semesters of Physics
MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS
- Fulfillment of admissions requirements or completion of six credits in the biochemistry graduate program with grades of B- or better
- Two letters of recommendation
- A sealed official undergraduate transcript
- A completed planned program of study following an interview with the program director

Transfer Credit
Normally, a maximum of 6 graduate credits may be transferred into the program.
Non-Thesis Option (6 credits) includes:
- Six additional graduate credits of related course work from any academic department, pre-approved by the program director in Chemistry
- A comprehensive examination after having completed 24 credits
Thesis Option (6 credits) includes:
- CHEM 589 Research Seminar (3)
- CHEM 599 Master's Thesis (3)
- Students in the thesis option will present and defend their thesis as a culminating activity in lieu of a written comprehensive examination
