Online Nutrition
A COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM
This 30-credit science-based curriculum includes the study of health promotion, nutrition trough life's stages, and the latest reserch on nutrition-related diseases. You will design your own curriculum in collaboration with the program director to make your coursework particularly relevant to you and your own professional goals.

The online format will provide you with the flexibility and convenience for continued education so that you can work while earning the degree. There is no need to travel to campus. You will have class discussions with colleagues from all over the world. Students select eight courses from electives representing health promotion, professional skills, general nutrition, life cycle and nutrition, and disease. PREREQUISITES ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
The admission requirement includes a minimum G.P.A. of 2.5 and a degree in Nutrition (or a closely related field) from a regionally accredited institution. The following three courses must be taken with a grade of B or better for admission consideration:
- Basic Nutrition
- Biochemistry
- Physiology
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

- $50 application fee
- Sealed transcript of your bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and any additional graduate coursework
- Transcripts from all colleges attended
- Two letters recommending you for graduate work at Saint Joseph College (must be on letterhead and signed)
- A signed program of study
- NO GRE or other exam required

Will this degree allow me to take the Registration Exam?
No, this degree will not lead to ADA verification.
How long with it take me?
Typically, students take one or two courses per semester. Courses are 3 credits so one needs 10 courses. You decide how many you wish to take each year. Usually the college allows 6 years from the date of matriculation. See the graduate catalog for more details.
May I take courses before matriculation?
Yes, a student can take up to 6 credits before one must apply for matriculation.
Are all the courses online?
Yes, one can earn all their credits online.
What if the final degree completion requirement?
Each student must complete an independent study. For more details click FINAL PROJECT.
How much does it cost?
The tuition cost is determined each year in the Spring. Click here for more information on tuition and fees.
Does one need to have a bachelor’s in nutrition to apply for the masters?
No. but one needs to take a basic nutrition course, undergraduate biochemistry and physiology (graduate science courses would also qualify but undergraduate will work too). NUTR 380 Nutrition for Nursing Practice: is a course that combines basic nutrition with basic medical nutrition therapy. This course is offered online one or more times per year. This would satisfy the requirement for the basic course. Biochemistry would be a prerequisite.
What can I do with a Masters in nutrition?
If one is an RD, then the Masters enhances your knowledge base and makes you more attractive to employers. If one is new to the field it may be more challenging to find a specific position. Potential areas of employment are state and city health departments, community nutrition, media, private businesses, industry.
