As a Family Studies major, you will study a variety of aspects related to the modern family, including nutrition, family relations, financial planning and research. A Personalized Course of Study
As a Family Studies major, your studies begin with a core curriculum that includes Psychology, Sociology, Writing, Human Development, and Family Relations. The Contemporary Family Issues area of concentration may be combined with minors in chld study, gerontology, or other related academic disciplines. As a concentrated major, your course work, reflects your area of interest. Many students combine minors in Management, Psychology, or other fields to complement their work in Family Studies.
Internship Opportunities
Students of the Family Studies degree program participate in self designed internships throughout the area. Recently, students have worked and studied at the Department of Consumer Protection, Saint Agnes Home, the state judicial system, the Department of Children and Families, and area youth and community service bureaus.
