Residence Hall Information
Student in Residence Hall at SJCThe College provides housing accommodations to the student during the academic year when the College is in session. The residence halls open one day prior to classes beginning. First-year students arrive earlier for orientation. The residence halls close for the following breaks: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, and Easter. Holiday departure information is distributed a month before each closing.

The Residence halls will re-open at a designated time on the day before classes resume. Students must move out of their room 24 hours after their last examination or at the closing time established by the College, whichever comes first.

Exceptions to scheduled arrival or departure times are made only as required by curricular or co-curricular situations and must be cleared by the Director of Residential Life.

Meal Contracts
Nineteen meals are served throughout the week; breakfast, lunch and diner on Monday through Friday and brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday. All students may select a 15 or 19-meal plan. Upperclass students may select the 10-meal plan. All resident students are required to participate in a College meal plan. Students seeking a release from a meal contract for dietary reasons must contact the Dean of Students and submit a written order from a physician. The Dean of Students will then consult with the College's Food Service to determine whether the student's dietary requirements can be met.

The dining hall is not open during the following vacation periods: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break and Easter.

Room Changes
Room Changes will be conducted the second week of every semester. Any student contemplating a room change must first speak with her roommate. All parties involved must agree to the room change and paperwork must be completed with the Director of Residential Life.

Room Changes - Spring 2010
Monday, February 1, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, February 2, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

After the above dates, room changes will only occur after mediation.

Room Selection
Sophomore, junior and senior students choose their own roommates and select their residence hall rooms during the spring semester (returning students must pay a $250.00 room reservation fee to secure a room for the following fall). Room draw will take place on Friday, April 9, 2010. New students (first year and transfer) are assigned rooms during July. A computer program based on the preference information (provided on the housing contract) pairs new students. If you know of a person you wish to room with you may request that person on your application. Both parties must mutually request one another to guarantee placement in the same room.
