Borrowing Privileges
Faculty, Students, and Staff
The borrowing period for currently enrolled students and staff is a semester for books, and seven days for circulating CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, records, and videos. Those needing longer use may renew materials. Students are billed for overdue books at the end of each semester through the Treasurer’s Office (see Guidelines for details).
Alumni
St. John’s College alumni who are residents of New Mexico may register for individual access to the library and borrowing privileges. Please review our Alumni Services page for details.
Visitors
Prospective students and tutors are allowed to borrow from the library. Their books will be due on the last day of their visit. Visitors to the college who are registered through the Conference Center and who will be on campus for eight nights or more, are eligible to borrow materials from the library. They are due back on the visitor’s last day on campus. Everyone is welcome to use library materials in the building during regular hours.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary loan services are available to current faculty, staff, and students. Book and article requests can be submitted via our online Interlibrary Loan Request Form or by using our paper Interlibrary Loan Request Form located at the library’s Circulation Desk. The turn-around time for an interlibrary loan request averages seven to 10 working days. Any loan costs will be passed on to the requestor, with prior approval. If you have questions about interlibrary loan services, please contact Laura Cooley, senior technical services and interlibrary loan librarian, at .
Library Passports
Library passports are available to current faculty, staff, and students. These passports enable current members of the St. John’s community to borrow books free of charge from institutions that belong to the New Mexico Consortium of Academic Libraries (e.g. University of New Mexico, Santa Fe University of Art and Design). Borrowing privileges are good for the duration of the semester in which they are issued. For more information, please contact Jennifer Sprague at .
Reference
Reference assistance is provided on a walk-in basis, or by appointment, to anyone who requests it. To make an appointment, please contact Jennifer Sprague at .
