Psychoeducational, support, and/or process groups are offered to SJC students as the student need and clinician availability permit. Groups can offer multiple perspectives, greater opportunities for feedback and support, and a setting in which to practice new behaviors and skills. Sharing ideas and developing coping strategies can be beneficial for people with similar concerns.
Some groups may be designated as “open”—where any student may attend any/all group session(s), while other groups may be designated as “closed”—where students must be pre-registered/deemed appropriate to attend and may need to commit to a certain number of sessions ahead of time. Students may self-refer or be referred for groups by an SJC clinician. Group participants do not need to be current clients of Counseling & Wellness Services.
For information on current groups or to suggest a future group topic, please contact counseling(at)sjc.edu.
