Selected Poems of Meng Haoran
Role: Translator
Meng Haoran (691-740) was a major poet of the early Tang Dynasty. Full of fresh landscapes, he was a consummate traveler who climbed, oared, rode, loved to go to parties and after, sit alone in its poem. Seeking out monuments, he made the past a pastime, along with visits to many monasteries to talk and learn. His fluidity seamlessly joins times, places, his wishes, dreams and needs. He irked the Emperor by reading one of his poems and was sent packing, and that memory never ebbed, becoming part of his wandering flows. He is beautiful to read.
