OPPD offers a full range of support to students wishing to apply for nationally competitive scholarships. Scholarships fund graduate school, summer research, projects overseas, study in the U.S. and abroad, and professional internships.

Support begins with information sessions in the fall and spring. These introduce several nationally competitive scholarships and explain how to submit a strong application.

Students are then encouraged to schedule an appointment with OPPD to prepare a detailed plan for application and to ensure that all requirements are complete by the deadline.

OPPD staff help students edit essays required in the application. They also work with faculty to ensure that letters of recommendation elucidate each applicant’s strengths.

As applicants move to the semi-finalist and finalist stages, OPPD staff explain the interview process and schedule several practice interviews.
