Many St. John’s students go on to graduate studies. OPPD assists students in planning for graduate school in several ways.
First, students have multiple opportunities each semester to attend the TELOS: Planning for Graduate School workshop. This 45-minute workshop teaches them how to find programs that align with their career objectives, how to write compelling applications, and how to find funding.
Next: each semester, OPPD offers information sessions on national scholarship programs that fund graduate study.
Once students have identified graduate programs that match their interests and aspirations, they are encouraged to schedule an appointment with OPPD to make a detailed plan for application.
Plan elements include creating a timeline; preparing for exams like the GRE, LSAT, or GMAT; editing application essays; securing faculty letters of recommendation; and review of each element of the application package before submission.
OPPD staff assist students with each step of their plan to ensure they maximize their chance of admission to the programs they have chosen.
