Brann was the longest-serving tutor in St. John’s history, a 2005 recipient of the National Humanities Medal, and a fixture at St. John's College for more than 60 years.
Paalman, who joined the school in 1997, discusses her unusual path to the liberal arts, how being a tutor has shaped her reading and thinking, and the gratitude she feels for serving the institution she loves.
Beall received her PhD in social psychology before rejoining her alma mater—this time, as a tutor—in 2015.
